What is the Fine Arts Summer Academy?
The Fine Arts Summer Academy (FASA) is a summer intensive program for young artists looking to bolster their technical development, and put that technique to work with on-stage, performing experience. Our desire is to prepare young people to exhibit the best their skills have to offer as performers. Tracks of study are offered for the instrumental arts: strings, brass, woodwinds, guitars, drums/percussion, and piano, in addition to the musical theater arts: dance, drama and vocal. For students interested in the ins and outs of show production we also offer the technical arts: sound, lighting and video.Bill and Robin Wolaver, the master craftsmen behind the the music of the Annie Moses Band, write a customized musical variety show designed with the specific artistic and musical skills of those attending in mind. Instead of students trying to fit themselves into a pre-designed mold, the mold is designed to fit the students. From curtain to curtain the final shows brim with wonder, showcasing a plethora of styles and eras. FASA is offered in tracks of specialized study. Students will choose one specific area of study based upon their area of expertise. For a complete listing of tracks and course descriptions click here.
The Main Event: Final Gala Performance
FASA is a performance driven program, and the final show is spectacular. In 2009 plans are more extensive than ever, with a professionally filmed program to feature soon-to-be announced artists who will be performing and collaborating with FASA students. We can’t share all the good news yet, but keep your eyes glued to the website for the details coming soon!
